YouTube wants you to turn your doodles into dreams
YouTube is bringing a new wave of AI tools to Shorts, making it easier for creators to experiment and play around with short-form content.
One of the standout features lets users turn any photo from their camera roll into a six-second video, adding movement or animation with just a tap.
It’s similar to tools from Meta and Google’s Gemini, but now it’s built right into YouTube.
You’ll also find a bunch of new AI effects, think underwater selfies, animated doodles, and all sorts of creative tweaks.
Here’s what’s happening:
You can now turn your photos into short videos using built-in AI tools
New effects let you transform selfies and doodles into playful content
AI Playground is the new hub for all generative tools and inspiration
From sketch to slay
Everything runs on Google’s Veo 2 video model and comes with clear labels and SynthID watermarks to show it’s been AI-generated.
There’s now a central space for all this too: AI Playground. It’s where creators can explore tools, prompts, and examples to get started.
The features are rolling out this week in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with more regions coming later this year.
Every time I say I’m quitting content creation, YouTube drops this.
