Oh boy, we’ve got some big news to share. Perhaps the biggest news we could possibly imagine sharing. So here goes:
HubSpot has acquired Mindstream!
Adam and I started Mindstream in June of last year, with the aim of creating the definitive AI media source. That first email went to 5 people - thanks, Dad.
If you told us less than 18 months later, we’d be stood shoulder to shoulder with the greatest minds in media, we’d have laughed in your face.
But it’s really happening.
So, what does this mean for us?
If you were expecting a “thanks and so long”, I’m afraid it’s bad news:
we’re going nowhere!
Myself (Matt), Adam and Maria are all continuing in our roles, and we’ll keep putting this newsletter out every single day like we always have (even if it eventually kills us).
Nothing is changing, but the future just got 10x brighter. We’re now part of the incredible Hubspot Media Network.
With HubSpot by our side, we can realise our goal to become the #1 AI media source in the world.
There’s more to come - much more. But this intro is getting rather long now, so we’ll cap it off here.
Thank you so much for your support, Mindstreamers!
-Matt, Adam and Maria

YouTube is introducing new labels to show when a video is filmed using a real camera without major edits.
This “captured with a camera” label first appeared on a video uploaded by Trupic, a service that checks digital content.
Truepic says it has the first YouTube video with C2PA Content Credentials.
YouTube relies on the C2PA standard to check if a video is genuine.
However, only videos made with tools that support C2PA metadata will get the label.
For the label to show, the video must use C2PA version 2.1 or higher, so it might take time before we see it widely.
Here’s what you should know about this:
The label confirms the video was filmed with a real camera and hasn’t been significantly changed.
Only videos using devices that support C2PA v2.1 or higher will display the label.
Major edits or steps breaking the C2PA chain will stop the label from appearing.
Videos don’t have to be completely untouched to get the label, but big changes that affect the original video will stop it.
For example, saving an image to a device that doesn’t support C2PA can break the verification process.
Earlier this year, YouTube also launched a label that asks users to declare if their video includes AI-generated content.
Okay, but how long before someone hacks it?

AI is rapidly becoming essential in business, moving from a new technology to a key tool. According to Exploding Topics, 77% of companies are adopting or testing AI, and 83% consider it crucial for their strategy. This trend is expected to boost business efficiency and productivity significantly.
A high school student in Massachusetts is involved in a lawsuit after being punished for using AI to help outline a history essay.
His parents are suing the school district and teachers, arguing that he didn’t break any rules, but the penalties have hurt his chances of getting into top universities.
He received a low grade, detention, and was initially kept out of the National Honor Society, which could affect his chances of getting into a fancy Ivy League school.
This lawsuit, filed in Massachusetts district court, is one of the first of its kind, challenging punishments over AI use in schoolwork.
The family claims the school’s AI policy wasn’t in place when the student used AI. As AI tools become more common in education, this case could set a legal precedent.
In brief:
The lawsuit could shape how schools deal with AI use in academic work.
The student was punished before any official AI policy was in the school’s handbook.
The case could impact his college applications as deadlines approach.
The student’s lawyer says AI use is similar to using Google for research, and he didn’t plagiarise.
The defendants have filed a motion to dismiss, with a court hearing expected soon.
As universities start to integrate AI into their policies, requiring proper citations and original writing, this case could play a key role in shaping how schools manage AI in the future.

Music: Liam Payne, former One Direction member, has died at 31 after falling from a hotel’s third floor in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Don’t Miss: Discord is contesting a court order to hand over user data in a piracy case, arguing it would violate First Amendment rights. Game publisher Nexon claims Discord users are distributing pirated games, including MapleStory, and wants user details under the DMCA. Discord says the request is overly broad and burdens users' right to anonymity.

“If AI platforms constantly take and summarise data without crediting or linking the source at some point it will not be worth anyone creating slow, fact checked, well drafted data and we will live in a very strange world where everything is meta and nothing is grounded.” - seema
