YouTube is betting you’ll like your songs narrated
YouTube Music is trying out AI hosts that share trivia, stories, and commentary about the songs you’re listening to. It’s a similar idea to Spotify’s AI DJ, launched in 2023.
The feature is part of YouTube Labs, a new space for testing AI tools. Anyone can sign up, but only some U.S. users will get access for now.
Earlier this year, YouTube also added an AI radio tool that builds stations based on what you ask for.
Here’s what you should know:
YouTube Music is testing AI hosts through YouTube Labs, open to all users but limited to the U.S. for now.
The idea mirrors Spotify’s AI DJ, mixing commentary with playlists.
YouTube is pairing new AI features with stricter rules against repetitive, low-quality AI content.

Beyond Music, YouTube has been rolling out AI across the platform, from tools for creating Shorts to AI-powered search results.
At the same time, it’s tightening rules to block low-quality, mass-produced AI content from making ad revenue.
