AI TECH
Your hashbrown habit is now algorithmic
Applebee’s and IHOP are working on a new AI-powered system that could help tailor meal suggestions and deals based on what you, or people like you, have ordered before.
The idea is to make visits more personal and boost loyalty, while gently encouraging you to spend a little more.
Dine Brands, which owns both chains, says it might pull data from loyalty programmes like IHOP’s to better understand customer habits.
Here’s what’s happening:
Applebee’s and IHOP are using AI to personalise meals and offers based on previous orders.
Wendy’s, McDonald’s, and Taco Bell are already testing AI at drive-thrus.
AI tools for staff, like cleaning alerts and management apps, are in development.
The table’s dirty, AI said so
They’re not the only ones experimenting, Wendy’s is using AI chatbots at drive-thrus, McDonald’s is revisiting its own AI setup, and Taco Bell is rolling out voice AI at more than 100 US locations.
There’s also a push to bring AI behind the scenes.
Dine Brands is testing smart cameras that can spot when a table needs cleaning, and an app designed to make life easier for managers.
