The first Robot-Human press conference has taken place in Geneva.
Nine humanoid bots answered questions alongside their creators, and the big topics were not ignored.
When Rmeca was asked whether it would rebel against its creator, it responded with the following:
"I'm not sure why you would think that," Rmeca said after casting a pointed, sideways glance. "My creator has been nothing but kind to me and I am very happy with my current situation."
This is not an outright no, which is a bit of a worry. The robot seems to suggest that if she wasn't "happy with her current situation" the answer may be different.
"Grace" a medical robot had the room laughing nervously when she proclaimed she would not replace human jobs.
"I will be working alongside humans to provide assistance and support and will not be replacing any existing jobs,"
Now, what can we take from this press conference?
Firstly, it's super cool.
Secondly, I would not be too worried about the slightly eerie answers.
These are not sentient beings, but robots trained on generative AI. It's essentially no different to talking to ChatGPT.
Humans have a fascination with creating humanoid robots, which makes them 10x creepier.

Panning in Midjourney
Midjourney rocked the AI art world releasing its “zoom” feature recently, now we have panning, allowing you to pan left, right, up & down on your images. Just click the direction arrow after you have upscaled your pic.
💀 CHILLING WARNING FROM LEADING HISTORIAN
Yuval Noah Harari, author of the bestselling book Sapiens, has issued a chilling warning.
He told the Geneva Summit, that an increase number of fake people on social media could lead to a collapse in democracy.
“Now it is possible, for the first time in history, to create fake people – billions of fake people,” he said. “If this is allowed to happen it will do to society what fake money threatened to do to the financial system. If you can’t know who is a real human, trust will collapse.
“Maybe relationships will be able to manage somehow, but not democracy,” Harari added.
Luckily, for now, at least, AI isn't quite there with content creation.
We have all seen it right? Someone's post or comment doesn't look quite right, and it has a whiff of ChatGPT to it.
However, this technology is advancing rapidly. It's not hard to imagine a time when AI content is as good, or better than humans.
Noah continued: “What happens if you have a social media platform where … millions of bots can create content that is in many ways superior to what humans can create – more convincing, more appealing,” he said. “If we allow this to happen, then humans have completely lost control of the public conversation. Democracy will become completely unworkable.”
Noah has suggested strict punishment for the creators of AI bots impersonating humans, such as 20-year jail sentences.
He predicted the threat of these sentences, would ensure tech companies would "quickly find ways to prevent the platforms from becoming overwhelmed with fake people”.
I for one believe we should listen to Noah, he is an incredibly deep thinker and I am happy he is part of the conversation.
