CHATGPT
We’re sending over 2.5B prompts a day to ChatGPT
ChatGPT now sees over 2.5 billion prompts a day, with 330 million of those coming from US users.
That’s a massive jump from the 1 billion daily prompts it was handling back in December 2024.
While Google still has a commanding lead by comparison with 14 billion daily searches, it’s clear people are starting to lean on AI tools instead of search engines to get quick answers.
What to know:
Daily prompts jumped from 1B to 2.5B in just 8 months
Over 330M daily prompts come from the US
Most users are free users, so profitability is still a question
Free plan supremacy
The problem for OpenAI? Most of those ChatGPT users are still on the free plan.
That’s great for growth, but not so great for the bottom line.
Axios reports that even the paid version might not be turning a profit yet, which means this level of demand might be hard to sustain.
Still, the numbers don’t lie: ChatGPT’s rise has been fast, and search habits are shifting.
Me using ChatGPT 5 times before 9am… yeah I’m part of the problem.
