Veo 3’s 1080p upgrade is all we ever wanted
Google has updated its Veo 3 AI video generator with support for 1080p resolution and vertical videos.
The changes apply to both Veo 3 and the cheaper, faster Veo 3 Fast model.
Developers can now create videos in a 9:16 aspect ratio, designed for mobile and social apps like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
Here’s what you should know:
Veo 3 now supports vertical 9:16 videos for mobile-first platforms.
1080p video is available, but only for 16:9 formats for now.
Lower pricing makes Veo 3 more affordable for developers.
TikTok called. Veo answered.
However, 1080p quality is currently available only for 16:9 videos, with vertical videos still limited to lower resolution.
Pricing has also dropped. Veo 3 now costs $0.40 per second (down from $0.75), and Veo 3 Fast is $0.15 per second (down from $0.40).
Google says both models are now stable and ready for production use through the Gemini API.
Cheap, vertical, HD… we’re eating.
