OPENAI
The work bot got a promotion
OpenAI is adding cloud-based workspace agents to ChatGPT for Business, Enterprise, Edu, and Teachers users.
These agents can handle work tasks across tools, like finding product feedback online, sending reports in Slack, or drafting follow-up emails in Gmail.
The launch comes as AI agents are getting more attention across the industry, with products like OpenClaw and Anthropic’s Claude Cowork pushing the space forward.
OpenAI is now making a bigger move into that same area.
The company says teams can share these agents, reuse them in ChatGPT or Slack, and improve them over time.
In brief:
OpenAI is turning ChatGPT into more of a workplace tool.
The launch puts it deeper into the growing AI agent race.
GPTs are still staying, but workspace agents look like the bigger focus now.
Team bot territory
The agents are also meant to follow team workflows, pull in the right context, and ask for approval when needed.
The update could also hint at what’s next for OpenAI’s GPTs, the custom chatbots it launched in 2023.
OpenAI says workspace agents are an evolution of GPTs, not a replacement, and that GPTs will stay available for now. It also plans to let teams convert GPTs into workspace agents later.
