The war on unread WhatsApps begins
AI agents are usually built to help with work. Fambot wants to use them to help parents manage family life.
The startup calls itself an “AI chief of staff” for parents, helping families keep track of school events, children’s activities, emails, WhatsApp groups and calendars.
Fambot was founded by former Instagram engineer Greg Karlin, former Uber product head David Reich, and ex-Google and LinkedIn employee Jason Morrow.
Reich says the idea came from trying to juggle work, three children and dozens of family updates every day.
Families can connect their email, calendar and selected WhatsApp groups.
Fambot then creates a daily checklist, flags upcoming events and pulls important information into one place.

Unlike some AI agents that mainly work through text messages, Fambot is also available on mobile and the web. It plans to add more school, sports and club apps over time.
The company says it uses several AI models, but does not allow them to train on users’ data.
Fambot was tested with more than 1,000 families before launch and has raised $3.5 million in pre-seed funding.
It is currently free in beta on iOS, Android and the web, with paid pricing expected to be around the cost of a Netflix subscription.
