ACQUISITIONS
The next browser war just started
Atlassian, the company behind tools like Jira and Trello, is buying The Browser Company, creators of the Arc and Dia browsers, for $610 million in cash.
According to CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes, the aim is to “reimagine the browser for knowledge work in the AI era,” with plans to build an AI-powered browser built for people juggling countless SaaS apps every day.
The Browser Company isn’t disappearing, though. It’ll keep operating independently under Atlassian while focusing on Dia, its newer browser project.
CEO Josh Miller says the deal will help them hire faster, launch features more quickly, and expand to more platforms.
