The most non-exclusive thing Nvidia’s ever done

NVIDIA

At Computex 2025, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced NVLink Fusion, a move that could change how AI infrastructure gets built.

For the first time, Nvidia will let other companies use non-Nvidia chips alongside its own through NVLink, the high-speed connection that was previously locked to Nvidia’s processors.

This shift means companies like Fujitsu and Qualcomm can now combine Nvidia GPUs with their own CPUs in AI data centres.

Partners already on board include MediaTek, Marvell, and Synopsys.

Big rivals like AMD, Intel, and Broadcom are still on the sidelines, for now.

Analysts say it’s a smart play.

Even if Nvidia loses a bit of CPU market share, it cements its GPUs at the heart of hybrid AI systems, especially as companies look for more flexible setups.

What to know:

  • NVLink Fusion allows Nvidia GPUs to work with third-party chips for more custom AI builds

  • GB300 and DGX Cloud Lepton aim to boost AI system performance and accessibility

  • Nvidia’s expanding in Taiwan with a Foxconn-powered AI supercomputer project

Nvidia also shared a few extra updates. Its GB300 Grace Blackwell systems are due later this year, promising faster performance.

And DGX Cloud Lepton, a new marketplace, will help developers tap into thousands of GPUs via cloud providers.

The company’s also opening a new office in Taiwan and building an AI supercomputer there with Foxconn.
