ADOBE

The line between prompt and design just disappeared

Adobe has introduced new AI assistants for Express and Photoshop to make image creation and editing easier.

In Express, there’s now a special mode where you can create images and designs using text prompts.

You can switch this mode on when needed, then return to normal editing tools.

Adobe says this setup helps students and professionals get things done without always using the traditional interface.

Photoshop’s assistant, now in closed beta, sits in the sidebar.

It can understand layers, select objects, create masks, and handle repetitive jobs like removing backgrounds or changing colours.

Adobe is also testing Project Moonlight, an early-stage assistant that could work with other Adobe tools and learn from a creator’s social channels to understand their style.

The company is also looking at connecting Express to ChatGPT so users could design directly inside ChatGPT.

At a glance:

  • Express adds a prompt-based mode; Photoshop gets a sidebar assistant.

  • Project Moonlight and a possible ChatGPT link are in early testing.

  • More AI tools arrive in Creative Cloud, including new generative models and video object masking.

Adobe is adding more AI features across Creative Cloud.

Photoshop users can now choose third-party models, like Google Gemini 2.5 Flash and FLUX.1 Kontext, for generative fill.

Premiere Pro is also getting an AI object mask to help select people or objects when applying effects or colour changes.

At this point, Adobe assistants are doing more emotional labour than I am.- MG
