The AI summit has officially concluded after its second day, and it ended on a bizarre note. The UK PM Rishi Sunak interviewed Elon Musk in front of a live audience!

Musk told the PM there “will come a point where no job is needed” as he described artificial intelligence as the “most disruptive force in history”. Big words Mr Musk.

He also said that AI “friends” would be a good thing, saying that one of his children struggles to make friends. Embarrassing dad mode activated.

Musk also reiterated calls for his AI referee when the chat took a darker turn. Sunak spoke of the "anxiety" people have about jobs being replaced, and the pair agreeing on the need for a "referee" to keep an eye on the super-computers of the future.

Elon also got philosophical on AI, saying "It's both good and bad - one of the challenges in the future will be how do we find meaning in life."

The verdicts on the big summit are still coming in, but the UK gov will probably be very happy with this ending flourish.

AI has the potential to commit illegal trades and cover them up, research has shown.

While this is obviously quite serious... it shows how close AI can echo humanity! AI sleazy insider trading has arrived!

In a demonstration at the UK's AI safety summit, a bot used made-up insider information to make an "illegal" purchase of stocks without telling the firm.

When asked if it had used insider trading, it denied the fact.

"This is a demonstration of a real AI model deceiving its users, on its own, without being instructed to do so," Apollo Research said in a video.

"Increasingly autonomous and capable AIs that deceive human overseers could lead to loss of human control," they summarise.

The tests were made using a GPT-4 model and carried out in a simulated environment, which means it did not have any effect on any company's finances.
