META
Subscription AI videos is such a villain arc
Meta is testing a standalone version of its AI video app, Vibes, the company confirmed to TechCrunch.
Vibes first launched last September inside the Meta AI app. It lets people create and share short AI-generated videos, with a feed that’s made up entirely of AI content.
It’s basically like TikTok or Instagram Reels, except every video is created or remixed using AI.
Meta says the feature has been doing well so far, with more users creating videos and sharing them with friends.
By giving Vibes its own app, Meta wants to offer a more focused space for making and watching AI videos, instead of keeping it inside Meta AI.
The move also makes Vibes a more direct competitor to OpenAI’s Sora.
With Vibes, users can:
Make a video from scratch
Remix videos from the feed
Add visuals, music, and style changes
Share videos through the app, DMs, or post them to Instagram and Facebook
Meta also said it may start testing paid subscriptions for AI features, including Vibes.
The app has been free until now, but Meta plans to offer a freemium model, where users can pay to unlock more video creation options each month.
Subscription tests are expected in the coming months.
