OpenAI has finally launched Sora publically. The tool turns text into video, with highly impressive results.
Sora can also animate images and remix videos. It’s available now for ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers in the US, with a wider rollout coming soon. Pro subscribers get much more access, with unlimited generations.
What you get:
ChatGPT Plus ($20/month): Create up to 50 videos (5 seconds each) at 720p resolution.
ChatGPT Pro ($200/month): Unlimited video generations with 500 priority videos (20 seconds each) at 1080p. Includes watermark-free downloads and allows five videos to be generated at once.
Sora has an Explore page featuring videos from other users, tools for storyboarding, remixing, and blending scenes.
Videos include watermarks and metadata to show they are AI-generated.
OpenAI has rules to prevent misuse, such as banning accounts for breaking guidelines on content uploads.
While Sora is available in the US and other countries, OpenAI says it may take longer to launch in Europe and the UK.
The launch follows criticism from artists who say they were used for unpaid testing during development.
