Amazon is updating Alexa with Alexa Plus, a smarter AI-powered assistant.
The refresh includes changes to the Alexa app and alexa.com, making them key platforms for accessing new features.
At its latest event, Amazon showcased how Alexa Plus can:
Have conversations to help with grocery orders and smart home controls.
Summarise documents and process information.
Check home activity, like whether someone walked the dog using security camera footage.
Alexa Plus will be available through the existing Alexa app, no need to download a new one.
The rollout starts in the US in the coming weeks, with wider availability to follow. It will cost $19.99 per month or be included with Amazon Prime.
Alexa’s getting smarter, but I’m still using her to set timers for my pasta.
