Green light exposure has some interesting quirks. Turns out, spending time under green light has been shown to ease pain and even relieve headaches. So, next time your head hurts, maybe skip the painkillers and try a little green glow-up instead.

GOOGLE

Google has begun releasing its new Gemini AI app, Vids, which creates video presentations from simple prompts. So long PowerPoint!

Vids can add stock footage, write scripts, and even generate AI voiceovers, so you don’t have to record your own voice.

The app can be used for turning customer support articles into videos, creating training content, sharing company updates, and summarising meetings.

Some key points to keep in mind:

  • Vids automatically creates video presentations, using stock footage, scripts, and voiceovers.

  • Available in multiple languages, but advanced AI tools, including “Help me create,” are currently in English only.

  • The rollout began on 7 November, with possible access delays of up to 15 days for some users.

No more monologues

Vids will be available by default to eligible Workspace organisations, but Google notes that some features, like “Help me create” and AI voiceovers, may have usage limits starting in 2026.

First introduced in April, Vids lets users add documents, slides, voiceovers, and recordings into its timeline, then combines them into a video presentation for colleagues.

Vids supports multiple languages, but advanced tools like “Help me create” and the teleprompter are currently only in English.

The rollout started on 7 November and may take up to 15 days for some users to access.

Auto-insert stock footage? Vids just saved me 3 hours of scrolling.

AI MUSIC

The Beatles are back in the Grammy spotlight nearly 50 years after breaking up, with two nominations for their final song, Now and Then.

Restored with the help of AI, the song is up for Record of the Year against artists like Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and Taylor Swift.

It’s also nominated for Best Rock Performance, facing bands like Green Day and Pearl Jam.

Now and Then has an interesting history.

The original demo was recorded by John Lennon in the late 1970s, then shared with the other Beatles in the 1990s for possible release in The Beatles Anthology.

However, technology at the time couldn’t separate Lennon’s vocals from the piano clearly, so the track was left unfinished.

In 2021, filmmaker Peter Jackson and his sound team used machine learning to separate the vocals, allowing Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to complete the song.

The last track comes to life

Even though AI played a part in the production, Now and Then qualifies under Grammy rules, which state that works must be mostly created by humans, though some AI elements are allowed in certain categories.

Here are some key bits:

  • Now and Then, The Beatles’ last song, is nominated alongside current music icons at the Grammys.

  • AI was essential in restoring a track that had been left unfinished.

  • Grammy rules allow some AI involvement if the work is primarily human-made.

We’ll find out how The Beatles perform at the 2025 Grammy Awards on February 2nd.

The Beatles nominated for music awards in 2024. Let that sink in.

“Do AI-led interviews bring more efficiency or make hiring too impersonal?”

Efficiency all the way! - 20%

Missing the human touch.- 80%

Your Views:

“Based only on the limited information here as to how the AI-led interviews might be conducted; it suggests that the process might have value in filtering out less suitable/less qualified candidates where there might be dozens or hundreds of applicants for a post. Later in the system though, the human touch might still be beneficial.” - bryanmc

“the prospective employee can't interview the company back, which is an integral part of the process” - aledonn
