💵 SAM ALTMAN TALKS CRYPTO ON ROGAN

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast and spoke about his views on cryptocurrency.

He warned that the US government has waged war on cryptocurrency and wants to control bitcoin.

"I'm disappointed that the U.S. government has done recently, but the war on crypto, which I think is a, like, we can't give this up, we're going to control [bitcoin and crypto] makes me quite sad about the country,"

"I'm very worried about how far the surveillance state could go here," Altman said, referring to state control over money and adding he's "super against" central bank digital currencies.

Altman likes his Bitcoin apparently.

❌ SHOULD AI FACE RECOGNITION BE BANNED?

In the UK, police and private companies should "immediately stop" the use of facial recognition surveillance, says a group of politicians and privacy campaigners.

They have raised concerns about human rights, the potential for discrimination and "the lack of a democratic mandate".

Campaigners have called for it to be banned "immediately".

"This dangerously authoritarian technology has the potential to turn populations into walking ID cards in a constant police lineup," says Silkie Carlo, the director of privacy organisation Big Brother Watch.

The technology is already heavily deployed in China, which many see as reason enough not to have here.

The EU has also provisionally banned it by including it in its draft AI legislation, meaning the UK could become an outlier if it continues the deployment of this tech.
