NVIDIA VS OPENAI

Sam Altman and Jensen Huang aren't seeing AI to AI

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has disagreed with OpenAI boss Sam Altman over how much cybersecurity risk the AI industry should accept.

While Altman recently suggested that some hacks and scams may be unavoidable as AI develops, Huang believes the industry should aim to prevent them all.

Speaking to Fortune in London, Huang said better security could have prevented past AI-related incidents.

He wants AI agents kept in secure systems to stop them from accessing things they shouldn't.

In brief:

  • Altman believes some risks may be unavoidable, while Huang says the industry should work to prevent every incident.

  • Huang wants AI agents closely monitored and kept within secure systems to prevent unwanted access.

  • Nvidia's new $2 billion investment would add to the $8 billion it has already committed to Europe, with Huang supporting the region's development of open-source AI.

Huang also played down fears that AI could pose a threat to humanity, saying the technology remains under human control.

Meanwhile, Nvidia is planning to invest another $2 billion in Europe as Huang encourages the region to catch up with the US in AI development.
