FIGMA

Part of the Figma house

Figma says its new AI assistant can understand what teams are designing because it uses AI models trained for design work.

The tool is meant to help teams move through early ideas faster. It can help them test concepts, look at possible issues, and improve designs together inside Figma’s shared canvas.

Figma’s chief design officer, Loredana Crisan, said that as building software becomes easier, teams now need to focus more on what to build, how it should work, and how it should feel for users.

The AI assistant is launching first in Figma Design. Later, Figma plans to bring it to more of its products.

The company also wants to make design and coding feel more connected inside its apps.

The main bits:

  • Figma’s AI assistant is built to understand design work, not just create random images.

  • It will first launch in Figma Design before coming to more Figma tools.

  • Figma is still growing, even as AI changes the design software market.

Blank stares (Figma’s version)

Figma is also dealing with more competition from companies like Canva, Adobe, Flora, Krea, and Dessn.

To keep up, it has added more AI and image-editing tools, including through its purchase of Weavy.

Even with concerns that AI could affect design jobs and design tools, Figma is still growing.

In the first quarter of 2026, it made $333.4 million in revenue, up 46% from the year before.

Figma said the blank canvas was no longer allowed to bully us. Everyone say thank you Figma.- MG
