💰OPENAI PROMISES TO PAY FOR YOUR LAWSUITS

Are you waiting for OpenAI to get sued into oblivion and collapse? You might be waiting a while.

Sam Altman and co are so confident that copyright lawsuits against their AIs do not hold any water, that they have officially announced that OpenAI will PAY for any lawsuit brought against a business using their software.

OpenAI is calling this feature “Copyright Shield”.

Sam Altman said on Monday: “We can defend our customers and pay the costs incurred if you face legal claims around copyright infringement and this applies both to ChatGPT Enterprise and the API.”

With the backing of Microsoft and their increasingly established place at the top of the AI chain, it looks like OpenAI isn’t bothered about any copyright lawsuits coming their way.

😮 A NEW AI WRITING DETECTOR THAT ACTUALLY WORKS!

If you’ve been trying to find an AI writing detector, you’ve probably seen thousands of results. You also probably know that they are generally rubbish!

Even OpenAI took down their own detector for being inaccurate.

It has been a huge game of cat and mouse, with so-called detectors never being able to truly determine when content is AI-generated.

That might be about to change, for now at least.

Scientists have used machine learning to build a detector that was incredibly accurate when it came to determining which scientific papers had been written by AI.

When tested on introductions written by people and those generated by AI from the same journals, the tool identified ChatGPT-3.5-written sections with 100% accuracy. For the ChatGPT-generated introductions based on abstracts, the accuracy was slightly lower, at 98%. The tool worked just as well with text written by ChatGPT-4.

By contrast, the popular AI detector “ZeroGPT” identified AI-written introductions with an accuracy of only about 35–65%.

The catch? They had to specifically train the AI on chemistry papers. So this is no universal tool.

However, it points to a future where AI text detectors are customised for each subject and use case - this could be the secret sauce to being able to stay on top of AI content!
