OpenAI may soon ask some organisations to go through an ID check before getting access to its upcoming AI models.
A new system called Verified Organization has quietly appeared on its support page, explaining that a government-issued ID will be needed to unlock certain advanced features on the platform.
Only one organisation can use a single ID every 90 days, and eligibility depends on which countries OpenAI supports.
Not everyone will qualify.

According to OpenAI, the move is meant to cut down on misuse.
Some developers have been bending the rules, and as the models become more powerful, the company wants to be more careful.
It’s also looking into possible data theft, including a case involving a China-based lab reportedly scraping data through the API.
Last summer, OpenAI blocked access in China, and this may be part of a wider effort to tighten things up.
The AI playground now comes with a bouncer.
