OpenAI has a brand new toy to try: Dots
OpenAI has launched Dots, a new type of AI agent designed to keep working on tasks even when you’re not using ChatGPT.
Powered by GPT-6 Astra, each Dot has its own cloud computer and can connect to more than 4,000 apps through plugins.
It can learn your preferences, handle several projects at once, and work through ChatGPT, Slack and Teams.

OpenAI says Dots could track customer feedback and prepare bug fixes, update launch materials when plans change, rerun research as new data comes in, or turn interview transcripts into clips, notes and social posts.
Users can choose which apps a Dot can access, set rules for what it can do on its own, and require approval for certain actions.
Background research uses read-only tools, while more sensitive actions may still need the user to step in.
