CHATGPT

ChatGPT just introduced something brand spanking new: Canvas.

Canvas is a fresh interface for ChatGPT users to work together on detailed writing and coding projects.

Unlike the regular chat window, Canvas opens separately, letting users and ChatGPT create and improve projects side by side.

Starting with ChatGPT Plus and Team members, Canvas will soon be available to Enterprise and Edu users.

But don’t worry - it’ll be available to all free users once the beta is completed.

Canvas uses ChatGPT's latest GPT-4o model, providing a better setup for detailed documents and code work.

Here’s what Canvas brings to the table:

  • In Canvas, users can highlight specific parts of their text, guiding ChatGPT on exactly where to help. Options include changing text length, adjusting readability, and grammar checks.

  • For developers, Canvas makes reviewing, debugging, and translating code simpler. It also offers tools to add logs and comments for easier understanding, creating a more transparent workflow.

  • ChatGPT is trained to know when Canvas is useful, opening only for complex projects that would benefit from the extra workspace.

Bringing order to chaos

Canvas is the biggest update to ChatGPT’s interface since its launch, offering a new space for detailed projects.

Although in early testing, OpenAI plans to expand Canvas features soon, making it even more capable.

We know you read it as your favourite tool, Canva, but no - this is Canvas.

We don’t know where it goes either…

GOOGLE

Google is adding ads to some of its AI-generated summaries, so get ready to see product suggestions in specific searches.

For example, if you’re looking for ways to remove a grass stain, Google’s AI could list products that help, shown under a “sponsored” label.

Ads will only appear if the search has a commercial focus, helping users “connect quickly with relevant businesses, products, and services.”

In testing since May, this feature is now rolling out more widely but only on mobile AI Overviews in the US.

Here’s the gist:

  • Ads in AI Overviews are currently mobile-only in the US.

  • More prominent cited pages are increasing site visits.

  • AI-organised search pages now focus on recipes and meal ideas.

Kinda upfront about the sales pitch

Google is also updating the layout of AI Overviews.

After testing, they now feature cited pages more clearly on the right side of summaries, which has led to more visits to linked sites.

Additionally, Google is trialling AI-organised search pages on mobile for recipes and meal ideas, offering tailored results rather than a simple list of links.

Can it recommend the best pizza glue tho?

It’s real potential. - 60%

It's too hyped. - 40%

Your Views:

“It's still the almighty dollar. Seems like they are trying to be another Google. At some point the government will take a hard look at them for trying to monopolize AI development. I think some of the investors will back out.” - rcraig

“Revenue increasing should be' contrasted with profit and losses. It is hard to foresee ROI matching current valuation also in the long-term. Competition, limitation of LLMs etc. are further adverse factors.” - maurizio.s
