😬 MICROSOFT’S AWKWARD AI MISTAKE

Microsoft has come under some criticism for an embarrassing and disrespectful mistake made by its AI news software.

A few years ago, Microsoft replaced its news division with algorithms and AI, and the system has been criticised ever since for letting errors slip through the cracks.

Recently however, it took things to a whole new level of embarrassment for the tech giant - with The Guardian officially complaining about their journalistic reputation being damaged!

Attached to an article about a woman being found dead, An AI-generated poll asked readers to speculate how she had died!

The poll, created by an AI program, asked: “What do you think is the reason behind the woman’s death?” Readers were then asked to choose from three options: murder, accident or suicide.

Here’s a screenshot of the poll in question:

In response, Microsoft has now disabled ALL polls on their news aggregator while they investigate.

After Microsoft’s recent AI success, they were probably overdue a setback, and this is a colossal cockup that will leave people questioning their AI.

🏥 CANCER DETECTION IS BETTER WITH AI

Cancer scientists are once again hailing an AI breakthrough that should improve treatments.

Artificial intelligence is nearly twice as good at grading the aggressiveness of a rare form of cancer from scans as the current method, a new study shows.

By recognising details invisible to the naked eye, AI was 82% accurate, compared with 44% for lab analysis.

The researchers used a technique called radiomics to identify signs, invisible to the naked eye, of retroperitoneal sarcoma - which develops in the connective tissue of the back of the abdomen - in scans of 170 patients.

With this data, the AI algorithm was able to grade the aggressiveness of 89 other European and US hospital patients' tumours, from scans, much more accurately than biopsies, in which a small part of the cancerous tissue is analysed under a microscope.

Yet another AI medical WIN! how long before we can live to 500?
