Microsoft is testing how fast humans will tap “Buy”
Microsoft is adding a new shopping feature to Copilot that lets users buy products directly within a chat.
If someone asks Copilot for recommendations, such as trainers or home items, the chatbot can now show a checkout option for the selected product without sending the user to another website.
In one example shared by Microsoft, a user searches for a bedside lamp.
Copilot suggests a product and displays two options: “Details” for more information and “Buy” to complete the purchase.
Selecting “Buy” opens an in-app checkout where users can enter payment and delivery details and confirm the order in one step.
This setup is similar to in-chat checkout features already available in tools like ChatGPT and reflects a wider shift towards AI agents handling shopping tasks.
Comparable features are also appearing in Google Search and AI Mode, as well as in Perplexity’s browser and chatbot, developments that have reportedly raised concerns at Amazon.
Here’s what you should know:

The rollout starts in the US with a limited group of retailers and payment partners
Oops, you bought it
The in-chat checkout feature is launching on Copilot.com in the US, with access limited to selected retailers.
Early partners include Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Ashley Furniture, and some Etsy sellers.
Payments are supported through integrations with PayPal, Stripe, and Shopify.
We asked for suggestions and somehow ended up at checkout. I’m not even mad. - MG
