Microsoft 365 Premium takes a swing at ChatGPT Plus
Microsoft is folding its Copilot Pro subscription into a new plan called Microsoft 365 Premium, set at $19.99 a month.
The new tier combines Office apps with Copilot AI built in, offering higher usage limits and exclusive features like Copilot Podcasts, Deep Research, Vision, and Actions.
The subscription matches the price of OpenAI’s ChatGPT Plus but comes with added value: Office desktop apps for up to six users, 1TB of cloud storage each, and access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook with AI tools embedded.
What you should know about this:
Microsoft 365 Premium launches at $19.99/month, merging Office apps with Copilot AI.
Subscribers get higher usage limits, 1TB storage per user, and six Office seats.
Personal accounts can now enable AI features inside workplace Office apps, with enterprise security intact.
AI in your Word docs
One notable change is that individuals can now use their personal Microsoft 365 Premium, Family, or Personal accounts to unlock Copilot features inside work Office apps, without sharing company data.
However, only the main account holder gets access, with no sharing options yet.
Microsoft is also extending GPT-4o image generation, voice access, and Copilot Chat to all Personal and Family subscribers, effectively marking the end of Copilot Pro as a standalone product.
