Meta AI is out of the group chat and into its own app

META

Meta has launched a dedicated app for its AI assistant, following its rollout across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.

Announced at the company’s LlamaCon event, the app works much like ChatGPT, and is a space where you can chat directly with Meta AI.

What makes Meta’s version stand out is that it already knows quite a bit about you, thanks to years of your juicy data from Facebook and Instagram.

This means the AI can tailor based on your profile and the content you interact with, though for now, it’s only available in the U.S and Canada.

Here’s what you should know:

  • Meta’s new AI app offers personalised chats by tapping into your existing profile data.

  • There’s a Discover feed for sharing AI interactions, if you want to.

  • Only available in the U.S. and Canada for now.

Share, don’t overshare

You can also feed the AI extra details, like the fact you’re lactose intolerant, and it’ll remember that next time it suggests holiday plans.

There’s even a new “Discover” feed where you can choose to share your chats with friends, like asking the AI to sum you up in three emojis.

As with any AI tool, it’s worth keeping in mind how your data might be used.

Meta’s AI is built on the same data-driven system that powers its ad business, so where you share could feed back into that model.
