Like the student who actually did the reading

Google is adding a bunch of new study tools to Search and Gemini, including interactive visuals, 3D models, quizzes and a new student hub.

In Search, students can now ask AI to make simple interactive explainers for harder topics.

For example, search for the pH scale can bring up a visual guide, while follow-up questions can create something more specific.

Search can also make practice quizzes for subjects like maths, science, language and humanities.

Google Lens is getting new learning tools too.

Students will soon be able to upload a photo of a problem and get help understanding it, spotting mistakes and figuring out what to do next.

Search can also turn uploaded PDFs, slides, documents and handwritten notes into shorter study guides.

Gemini is getting similar upgrades.

Students can ask it to research a topic, get a report when it is ready and then talk through the findings in Gemini Live.

It can also create interactive 3D models, while a new learning hub will bring notebooks, flashcards and quizzes into one place.

The main updates:

  • Search: interactive explainers, quizzes and study guides.

  • Lens: help with problems using uploaded photos.

  • Gemini: research reports, 3D models, flashcards and a study hub.

Google would like your entire backpack

The update is part of Google’s wider push to make Search and Gemini more useful for students, as it competes with OpenAI and other AI learning platforms.

At this rate, the only thing Google isn’t doing is sitting the exam for you.- MG
