LG and Samsung bring AI to your living room
AI TECH
LG and Samsung have announced their 2025 smart TVs at CES, featuring Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant.
Both companies are tapping into the AI trend, adding dedicated sections and shortcuts to the Copilot web app.
LG is introducing an “AI section” on its TVs and rebranding its remote as the “AI Remote”.
The company says Copilot will help users “find and organise complex information using contextual cues.”
While LG hasn’t shown how Copilot works yet, it did preview its own AI chatbot, which is built into its TVs.
This suggests Copilot may assist when users search for specific topics.
Samsung is upgrading its Vision AI brand with features like AI upscaling, Auto HDR Remastering, and Adaptive Sound Pro.
A new AI button on its remotes will provide access to tools like food recognition and home security analysis.
Microsoft’s Copilot will also be included, offering personalised content recommendations.
Here’s what you should know:
LG and Samsung are adding Microsoft’s Copilot AI to their 2025 smart TVs.
LG is focusing on an "AI Remote" and its chatbot, while Samsung’s Vision AI includes media and security features.
Neither company has demonstrated Copilot in action, leaving its functionality unclear.
The future of flipping TVs
Details remain vague for now. Samsung says its partnership with Microsoft will bring a variety of Copilot services to users, but there’s no demonstration of how this will work.
LG and Microsoft have also not provided further information about Copilot’s role on TVs.
Without clear examples, these AI features may feel more like marketing buzz than practical tools—for now, at least.
So, my TV will know me better than my friends now?
