+ AI agents - hype or not?
Elephants are scared of bees. Yup, these giant creatures, they’re afraid of tiny bees. Imagine being that big and still running from a buzz. Can’t blame them though.

AI TECH
Jony Ive, the former Apple design chief, has confirmed that he’s working with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, on a new AI hardware project.
This comes almost a year after the first rumours about their collaboration, but there’s still not much detail.
Please, not another pin.
The project is funded by both Ive and Emerson Collective, the company owned by Laurene Powell Jobs.
It’s expected they could raise $1 billion by the end of the year, though earlier rumours of a $1 billion investment from SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son haven’t been confirmed.
The team is small, with only 10 employees, including Tang Tan and Evans Hankey, who worked with Ive on the iPhone.
LoveFrom, Ive’s company, is leading the design work.
The team is based in a 32,000-square-foot office in San Francisco, which is part of a $90 million real estate purchase by Ive.
What you should know:
Jony Ive and Sam Altman are collaborating on an AI hardware project with plans to raise $1 billion in funding.
The team is small, including key former Apple designers, and is working out of a new office in San Francisco.
The project focuses on using generative AI for a new type of device, though the final product and release date are still undecided.
What’s up their sleeves?
The device is said to explore how generative AI can offer more to users than traditional software.
There have been discussions about touchscreen technology, with some inspiration coming from the original iPhone, but nothing is confirmed yet.
LoveFrom cofounder Marc Newson has also mentioned that they are still working out the product details and timeline.

AI WORKFORCE
The rise of AI agents is making waves in the software industry.
Companies like Microsoft, HubSpot, and Oracle are moving beyond AI assistants (copilots) to AI agents that can perform tasks for users.
These agents, built on generative AI, are designed to handle more advanced functions, like managing expenses or automating customer service.
Despite the excitement, AI agents haven’t yet made a significant impact on revenue.
Here’s the gist:
AI agents are now taking on more advanced tasks, evolving from copilots.
Revenue growth from AI agents remains limited despite the excitement.
New pricing models are emerging, with a focus on usage-based and outcome-based fees.
All hype no swipe?
AI agents represent the next step in generative AI’s evolution, but questions remain about their reliability and use.
While the technology is advancing, companies are still figuring out how to profit from it.
Some, like Salesforce, have voiced concerns, saying the real value lies in how businesses use AI tailored to their needs.
Looking ahead, AI agents could disrupt traditional pricing models in the software industry.
As these tools handle more work, fewer staff may be needed, challenging old business structures.
Companies are experimenting with new pricing based on how often AI is used and the results it delivers, though how this will play out is still uncertain.
For now, the focus is on watching how AI agents can improve productivity.
Many are cautious, as the long-term impact remains unclear.
AI agents huh? Who knew James Bond was the first to lose his job to AI?
