The tool is designed to help people find government information more easily.
Callaghan Innovation is running a trial for Gov-GPT, with the goal of making it easier for Kiwis to get answers about government services and agencies.
At the same time, they are starting a programme to help businesses use AI by offering research, expert advice, and potential grants.

AMAZON
Amazon has launched a beta test for a small group of Audible narrators, allowing them to create AI-generated voice replicas to speed up audiobook production.
This feature will expand to authors, agents, and publishers later in the year.
Narrators submit voice recordings to train their AI replicas and keep control over which projects use their AI voice for both live and AI-generated recordings.
They can adjust the AI voice's pronunciation and pacing, and review the final product for any errors.
Compensation will be based on a "Royalty Share" model, though exact earnings are unclear.
Here’s what you should know:
Narrators can train AI versions of their voices to streamline audiobook production.
Narrators choose which projects use their AI voice and can review and edit the final production.
40,000 Audible titles now use AI voices, sparking concerns about the impact on human narrators.
Kinda cool, kinda weird
While free for beta participants, Amazon hinted this may change when the feature rolls out fully.
Any AI-narrated titles will be clearly marked, and the AI voice will only be used with the narrator's consent.
This follows Amazon's earlier introduction of synthetic voices for Kindle audiobooks, raising concerns about fewer opportunities for human narrators, as Audible doesn’t currently offer an easy way to filter out AI-narrated books.
I’d like to binge-listen to my fave audiobook read by Morgan Freeman, thanks.

“I love new technologies, the whole economy that is changing and so on. But the gap between rich and poor is widening all over the world. A slick tech giant saves nearly $15 billion (otherwise I love this company) while my favorite artisan barely knows how to pay his way, despite doing a good job? I'm not a communist, but that's not the way it should be.” - regina.steyer
“Big tech makes enough profit to pay for their innovations and pay taxes.” - mteuwen
