Iceland is turning lesson prep into a 5-minute job

Iceland’s Ministry of Education is working with Anthropic to test Claude in schools across the country.

Teachers everywhere, from Reykjavik to smaller villages, will get access to the AI, plus training and support.

The aim is to see how AI can help with lesson planning, teaching, and student learning.

Anthropic says Claude could help teachers cut down on admin work and adjust lessons for different students.

The tool can handle text, maths, and more, and supports Icelandic alongside other languages to help create more inclusive classrooms.

Here’s what you should know:

  • Teachers nationwide will get access to Claude, training, and support.

  • The pilot focuses on reducing admin and improving lesson planning.

  • The project follows similar AI work with governments and universities in Europe.

Claude goes to school

Iceland’s government says the pilot will help them understand how to use AI safely and responsibly, with teacher needs at the centre. Results will guide next steps.

This programme adds to other European partnerships.

The European Parliament uses Claude to search millions of documents faster, and the UK government is exploring similar use in public services.

Universities such as the London School of Economics are also using Claude to support student learning.

Anthropic says it hopes to build more partnerships like this to support teachers, researchers, and governments around the world.
