DEEPFAKE

Hot, fake, and viral

Coachella is back, and so is the usual wave of influencer content

But this year, some of the festival’s most polished posts seem to be coming from people who were never there, and in some cases, aren’t even real.

AI-generated influencers are blending into the crowd online, posting festival content alongside celebrities and real creators.

Fake Coachella posts are nothing new, but AI has made them much harder to spot.

Some accounts call themselves “digital creators,” but that often does not clearly tell users whether the person is human or AI.

A number of these accounts have built large followings.

Some post photos with celebrities like the Kardashians, Jenners, Justin Bieber, Bretman Rock, and James Charles, even when the content shows signs of being AI-made.

In many cases, disclosures are missing or hard to find.

Some accounts do mention they are AI in their bios, but leave that out of the posts themselves.

That matters because Coachella content is all about reach.

The festival is a major chance to grow an audience, and AI creators seem to be using the same formula as human influencers: post aspirational content, include famous faces, and grab attention.

In brief:

  • AI influencers are using Coachella content to grow their reach and make money.

  • Labels are often vague, hidden, or missing altogether.

  • As these posts get more realistic, it is becoming harder to trust what you see online.

Fame by prompt

That attention can turn into money.

Some of these accounts link to platforms like OnlyFans or Fanvue, while others sell prompt packs or guides for making AI influencers.

So this is not just about fake festival photos. It is also part of a bigger content business.

The bigger issue is not that AI avatars are posting Coachella content.

It is that many do not clearly say they are fake, even when the posts are made to look real.

For anyone scrolling through festival coverage, it is getting harder to tell what actually happened and what was generated.

This is just getting dumb now. - MV
