Tired of cold callers trying to scam you? A man from California certainly was. He was so irritated by the constant scam calls he received that he built an AI voiceover chat response bot that responds to the scammers and wastes their time!
The bot is called Whitebeard and is designed to talk in circles, much to the irritation of the cold callers - which are a huge problem. Americans receive around 14 unwanted calls a month, according to one industry estimate. Automated systems can dial up to 100 calls every second, searching non-stop for targets. That’s a lot of spam!
But now, for $25 a year, you can pick between five different personalities designed to run rings around those pesky scammers! The system sounds human and using AI-generated responses to keep up the illusion that the scammer is speaking to a real person.
The system already has thousands of signups, but when scammers master AI at the other end of the phone, it seems like this is all going to turn into a game of cat and mouse.

👨🏼🎓 HARVARD TO USE AI PROFESSOR
Harvard University - amongst the most prestigious in the world - has announced it is going to deploy an AI professor for an entry-level coding course from next semester.
The course has approximately 1000 students and so the professors are trying to find ways to ensure each student can access the level of assistance they need - that’s where AI comes in.
Professor David Malan, who runs the coding course, said: “Our own hope is that, through AI, we can eventually approximate a 1:1 teacher-to-student ratio for every student on the course... providing them with software-based tools that, 24/7, can support their learning at a pace and in a style that works best for them individually.”
