Google’s AI now makes phone calls for you

Google is upgrading Search with a smarter set of AI features, starting with its most advanced model yet: Gemini 2.5 Pro.

Available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S., this new model powers an improved AI Mode in Search, offering stronger support with things like problem-solving, coding help, and maths.

It also unlocks Deep Search, a tool that runs hundreds of searches in the background and pulls everything together into a clear, cited summary.

It’s built for those deeper questions, whether you're researching for work, figuring out a big purchase, or looking into financial decisions.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Gemini 2.5 Pro now powers a more advanced AI Mode in Search, helping with complex questions.

  • Deep Search pulls in hundreds of results to write detailed, sourced summaries in minutes.

  • Search can now call local businesses for you to check prices and availability.

There's also a new time-saver: Search can now call local businesses for you.

Say you're looking for a pet groomer, instead of ringing around, Search can handle the calls, gather pricing and availability, and show you a list of options.

It’s rolling out across the U.S., with higher usage limits for Pro and Ultra subscribers.

All of this is part of Google’s plan to test early features through Labs before sharing them more widely.

Google’s AI just did my homework, booked my dog’s haircut, and filed my taxes. Probably.
