Google has just launched the AI Futures Fund, a new initiative to back startups working with its latest DeepMind tools.
The fund is open to companies at all stages and offers perks like early access to AI models, Google Cloud credits, and guidance from teams at DeepMind and Google Labs.
Some startups might even get direct investment.
There’s no deadline or set application window.
Instead, Google is taking a rolling approach, reviewing startups as they come in.
The fund’s size hasn’t been disclosed, and investment amounts will vary depending on each startup’s needs and stage.
Early examples include Viggle (a meme generator) and Toonsutra (a webtoon app), which have already taken part.
This move is part of Google’s wider push to support AI innovation.
Over the past year, they have announced:
$20 million for AI researchers via Google.org
A $120 million Global AI Opportunity fund for training and education
A $20 million AI accelerator for nonprofits
Startups can apply for the new fund as of May 12th.
