OpenAI has launched Images 2.6, its latest image-generation model, across ChatGPT, Codex and the API.
The update introduces GIF creation, faster image generation and more precise editing, making it easier to create professional visuals while keeping characters, products and brand details consistent.
Here's what else is new:
Flare can generate an image in as little as six seconds, while Sunburst focuses on detail and consistency.
GIF generation supports animated mascots, social media content and storyboards, alongside SVG exports for websites, apps and print.
Images 2.6 is available globally across all ChatGPT subscription tiers, with both models accessible through the API.
Blink and you'll miss the render
The model generates images 50% faster than its predecessor, with two API versions available: Flare for speed and Sunburst for higher-quality results.
Users can also turn sketches and still images into animated GIFs, while new editing controls give developers more flexibility.
OpenAI says users now generate four billion images every week across ChatGPT, Codex and the API.
