🌍 G7 COME TO AI AGREEMENT!

Huge news out of Brussels - the G7 group of countries have agreed an AI code of conduct that must be followed by companies developing AI models.

The code of conduct is for companies developing advanced artificial intelligence systems, a G7 document showed, as governments seek to mitigate the risks and potential misuse of the technology.

It’s a done deal.

The voluntary code of conduct will set a landmark for how major countries govern AI, amid privacy concerns and security risks floating around in the industry.

Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain and the United States will officially announce the agreement today, supposedly.

The 11-point code "aims to promote safe, secure, and trustworthy AI worldwide and will provide voluntary guidance for actions by organizations developing the most advanced AI systems, including the most advanced foundation models and generative AI systems".

The code urges companies to take measures to identify, evaluate and mitigate risks across the AI lifecycle, as well as tackle incidents and patterns of misuse after AI products have been placed on the market.

This is a huge development in what is set to be a giant week for AI. We’ve got Biden’s executive order coming tomorrow and the big AI summit starting Wednesday!

📚 BOOK RECOMMENDATION

The best books to dive deeper and get real insights on artificial intelligence.

🤖 UK GOV UNVEILS AI TEACHING ASSISTANTS

The UK government has announced AI teaching assistants to support teachers with planning and workloads.

Every teacher in England is set to benefit from the new resources powered by AI, helping them to plan lessons, build classroom quizzes and much more.

The Government is investing up to £2 million in Oak National Academy, which was established to support teachers with high-quality curriculum resources online, to create new teaching tools using AI – marking the first step towards providing every teacher with a personalised AI lesson-planning assistant.

This follows a pilot of an AI-powered quiz builder and lesson planner. Thousands of teachers have already signed up to use these tools, helping them to create individualised content that is tailored to teaching their pupils and based on Oak’s high-quality curriculum content.

It looks like AI really is going to be teaching our kids.
