AI TECH
South Korea is set to host the world’s largest AI data centre, a $10 billion project led by Fir Hills, a division of US-based Stock Farm Road (SFR).
The facility, located in Jeollanam-do Province, will have a 3-gigawatt capacity when completed in 2028 and is expected to generate $3.5 billion in yearly revenue.
The project is backed by SFR co-founders Brian Koo (LG heir) and Dr Amin Badr-El-Din, who see it as a major step in strengthening South Korea’s position in AI.
The centre will feature:
Advanced cooling and fibre technology to handle AI workloads.
Energy-efficient systems to manage sudden power surges.
Strong global connectivity to support next-gen AI development.
Jobs for everyone!
The centre is expected to create 10,000 jobs in energy, manufacturing, and R&D while supporting hyperscalers and major corporations.
SFR also plans to expand AI infrastructure across Asia, Europe, and the US over the next 18 months, using its Energy-to-Intelligence (e2i²) expertise to merge AI with energy networks.
Why does it matter?
The AI data centre market could reach $438.3 billion by 2030.
Large-scale AI projects rely on strategic partnerships.
With Samsung, LG, and Hyundai already leading in tech, the country is investing heavily in AI infrastructure.
This project is a significant step in AI innovation, positioning South Korea as a leader in the future AI economy.
South Korea isn’t messing around.
