France vs. U.S. - who’s spending more?

AI INVESTMENTS

France is set to receive €109 billion ($112.5 billion) in private AI investments, with the announcement expected at the Paris AI Summit.

President Emmanuel Macron confirmed major funding from international investors:

  • Brookfield (Canada): Investing €20 billion, mainly for a new data centre.

  • United Arab Emirates: Pledging up to €50 billion, including a 1-gigawatt data centre.

Throwing money at the future

AI needs huge computing power, and data centres are key to supporting its growth.

However, Europe faces energy supply challenges, raising concerns about how it will keep up with demand.

Meanwhile, the U.S. is stepping up its AI investments, with OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle planning to spend $500 billion on AI infrastructure over the next four years.

The goal is to stay ahead in the global AI race, particularly against China.

AI data centres are the new castles, and everyone’s fighting for land.
