💊 FIRST AI DRUG TESTED ON HUMANS
Insilico Medicine has announced they have begun human trials on their drug "INS018_055".
The first entirely “AI-discovered and AI-designed” drug treats the chronic lung disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
This is a landmark event for AI in healthcare.
Here is what Alex Zhavoronkov, the founder of Insilico Medicine had to say:
“For Insilico, it is the moment of truth… but it is also a true test for AI and the entire industry should be watching”
“Our company, and it’s a big, bold claim, can double the productivity of pretty much every big pharma company”.
The average cost to bring a new drug to market is estimated by Deloitte to be $2.3 billion. That's some biiiiggg money.
Healthcare and AI is certainly a sensitive topic, but improving the speed to and cost of getting life-saving drugs tested, can only be a good thing.
