❗️ EU AI LEGISLATION FINALISED
Well, they did it. The EU has finally hashed out an agreement on AI legislation.
It comes after a marathon 37-hour negotiation between the states!
Historic!
The EU becomes the very first continent to set clear rules for the use of AI 🇪🇺
The #AIAct is much more than a rulebook — it's a launchpad for EU startups and researchers to lead the global AI race.

So, what does it mean?
Here’s the main breakdown of what the legislation includes direct from the EU:
Rules on high-impact general-purpose AI models that can cause systemic risk in the future, as well as on high-risk AI systems.
A revised system of governance with some enforcement powers at EU level
Extension of the list of prohibitions but with the possibility to use remote biometric identification by law enforcement authorities in public spaces, subject to safeguards.
Better protection of rights through the obligation for deployers of high-risk AI systems to conduct a fundamental rights impact assessment prior to putting an AI system into use.
EU Commissioner Thierry Breton described the plans as "historic", saying it set "clear rules for the use of AI".
When does it kick in?
First, the rules need to go to a vote in the European parliament.
The European Parliament will vote on the AI Act proposals early next year, but any legislation will not take effect until at least 2025.
Think how much AI will have changed by then…
Either way, this is a historic moment, and will probably provide the baseline for how AI is regulated the world over.

From the EU… to the EU!
France’s hottest AI startup, Mistral AI is now valued at $2B after its latest fundraising round.

A new AI leader?
Founded in May by AI heavyweights, Mistral had already raised $100 million by June.
Among European AI firms, only Germany's Aleph Alpha has brought in as much funding, raising nearly 500 million euros in early November.
Among Mistral's backers are several American tech giants including software publisher Salesforce and also, according to industry sources, the Nvidia group, a global leader in supercomputer chips.
It looks like Mistral is set for success. The company hopes to eventually compete with OpenAI. MistralGPT coming soon?
The company is just 8 months old with 22 employees, but is now worth $2B… let that sink in.
This is the AI gold rush.
