GROK
Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has launched Grok-3, its newest chatbot, aiming to compete and outmatch OpenAI, Google, and DeepSeek.
The release comes shortly after DeepSeek introduced a powerful open-source model, ramping up competition in the AI space.
What’s new with Grok-3?
Grok-3 is now available to Premium+ subscribers on X, and xAI has introduced a new SuperGrok plan for users on mobile and Grok.com.
Musk claims Grok-3 outperforms Grok-2 and can rival the best AI models. Some analysts agree, but others believe the upgrades don’t fully justify the massive resources behind it.
The model introduces DeepSearch, a chatbot designed to explain its reasoning, making it useful for research, brainstorming, and data analysis.
New AI, same old competition
To stay competitive, xAI is expanding its Memphis-based supercomputer, Colossus, one of the largest in the world, and securing billions in funding for even more advanced AI models.
Meanwhile, Musk and a group of investors recently offered $97.4 billion to buy OpenAI’s nonprofit assets, but OpenAI rejected the bid.
SuperGrok? It sounds like a 2010s fitness supplement, but sure.
