Big news everybody! Elon Musk has officially launched a new AI company.
I’m not saying it’s good news necessarily but I wanted to use this gif.
The newest kid on the block is called xAI (probably also the name of his 12th child), and includes some top AI engineers who have previously worked at Google and OpenAI.
The company's website says the goal of xAI is to "understand the true nature of the universe." Hmm. Far out, dude. Musk is hosting a Twitter Spaces event today (Friday 14th) where he will set out more details. We eagerly await them!
Musk has consistently called for pausing on AI development (so he could catch up?) and regulation. Now he has his OpenAI competitor, will he change his stance?
Elon has also tweeted previously that ChatGPT has a liberal bias, and we need “TruthGPT” - could that be what’s coming?
This is going to send shockwaves through the AI world, so much so that we’ve dedicated both of our feature sections to it!

Cross-industry Focus - Elon is a man with his fingers in many pies. He can leverage AI across a range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, energy… the list goes. By being the AI of choice for his other ventures, xAI stands a much greater chance of success.
