AI doom and gloom is having a busy week - after leaders at the G7 began provisionally planning how to regulate AI, one of the godfathers of AI admitted to regretting his life's work (ouch). Oh and and a list of tech leaders all signed a document stating unless we take steps to control AI we're all f*cked. But how was your week?

AI regulation is inevitably coming - Italy has already taken steps to ban ChatGPT for certain uses, in an attempt to preemptively "save jobs". It remains to be seen how much of a "threat" AI could be, and while AI is certainly going to shake up the very nature of work (and we all know how much powerful institutions love change! NOT!), the extinction of humanity seems a bit of a stretch. This all seems a little Y2K to us.

A New York lawyer has leaned on ChatGPT a little too much and cited SIX cases to bolster the case of his client... none of which actually existed. Doh! The lawyer was filing a case on behalf of a man who was suing an airline for injury. After receiving the filing, the airline's lawyers quickly pointed out the cited cases didn't exist and were "pure bogus". Talk about a bad day at work...

The lawyer is now facing a court hearing of his own for submitting false information. Hopefully he doesn't use ChatGPT for his defence case...
