Deepfake drama, but in 4K

DEEPFAKE

Scarlett Johansson has spoken out against AI misuse after a deepfake video falsely depicted her and other Jewish celebrities protesting against Kanye West.

The fake clip, which also included David Schwimmer, Jerry Seinfeld, and Steven Spielberg, showed them wearing T-shirts with a Star of David and the word "Kanye."

Johansson condemned hate speech but warned that AI-generated misinformation is an even bigger concern, saying it threatens reality itself.

The AI-generated video emerged after:

  • West, now legally Ye, left X following antisemitic posts and began selling swastika T-shirts.

  • Shopify took down Ye’s site for violating its policies.

  • Fox Television Stations CEO condemned a Super Bowl ad linked to the merchandise.

Kanye, AI, and a whole lot of chaos

The deepfake was created by digital marketers, aiming to make a strong statement against antisemitism.

While some praised the video, others argued it highlights the silence of real celebrities on the issue.

New UK figures show AI-generated fake ads featuring public figures remain the most common type of online scam.

At this point, AI is doing celebrity PR without their consent.
