Claude’s new update screams “promotion”

Anthropic is expanding Claude for Financial Services with a new Excel add-in, live data connectors, and built-in Agent Skills for common finance tasks like cash flow models and coverage reports.

The update builds on Claude Sonnet 4.5, which recently ranked top on Vals AI’s Finance Agent benchmark with 55.3% accuracy.

In short, Claude’s getting sharper at handling day-to-day financial work - and can finally handle those spreadsheets for you!

Claude now works directly in Microsoft Excel through a sidebar.

It can read, analyse, and edit spreadsheets, explain every change it makes, and even build models from scratch while keeping formulas intact.

It also connects to Microsoft 365 tools, so users can access files, emails, and Teams chats.

The beta is open to Max, Enterprise, and Teams users, starting with 1,000 testers before a wider rollout.

Claude can now pull real-time data from trusted financial sources like:

Aiera for earnings call transcripts and investor updates, LSEG for live market data and exchange rates, and Moody’s, Morningstar, PitchBook, Egnyte, and Third Bridge for deeper research, ratings, and portfolio insights.

Six new finance-focused skills make Claude better at building discounted cash flow (DCF) and company comparison models, turning data room files into due diligence packs, and writing earnings analyses and company reports.

Together, these updates make Claude more capable inside spreadsheets, more connected to real-time market data, and better equipped for complex financial analysis, all while saving professionals time on repetitive but essential tasks.
