Chrome gets a repeat button

Google is adding a new AI feature to Chrome called Skills.

It lets users save their favourite Gemini prompts and use them again on other web pages, instead of typing the same thing every time.

This is part of Google’s bigger push to bring more AI into Chrome, especially as more browser companies roll out their own AI tools.

Gemini already helps users ask questions about a page, summarise what they are reading, or handle simple tasks.

Skills makes that faster by letting people reuse those prompts with one click.

For example, if someone often asks Gemini to suggest vegan swaps on recipe websites, they can now save that prompt as a Skill and use it again on similar pages.

Skills can be saved from chat history, opened by typing a forward slash or clicking the plus button, and used across multiple tabs. They can also be edited at any time.

Here’s what you should know:

  • Chrome users can now save AI prompts as reusable “Skills” instead of rewriting them each time.

  • Google is making Gemini more practical inside the browser, especially for repeat tasks across websites.

  • The rollout starts on desktop first and is limited to users signed in with Chrome set to English (US).

Lazy girl efficiency

Google says early users have tried Skills for things like checking recipe macros, comparing products while shopping, and summarising long documents.

The company is also launching a Skills library with ready-made options for things like productivity, shopping, recipes, and budgeting. Users can save these and edit them if needed.

Like other Gemini actions in Chrome, Skills will ask for permission before doing things like sending an email or adding something to a calendar.

The feature starts rolling out today for Chrome desktop users signed into a Google account, and at launch it will only work if the browser language is set to English (US).
