🧑🏻🎓 AI WILL CHANGE CLASSROOMS “FOREVER”
One of the world’s leading AI experts has said that AI will change teaching so radically that teachers may not even be needed in the future.
Professor Stuart Russell, a British computer scientist based at the University of California, Berkeley, said that personalised ChatGPT-style tutors have the potential to hugely enrich education and widen global access by delivering personalised tuition to every household with a smartphone. The technology could feasibly deliver “most material through to the end of high school”, he said.
a brief glimpse into what AI will be saying in 5 years.
Russel claims that one-to-one teaching is 3x more effective than traditionally classroom learning. Some of the best universities, like Oxford and Cambridge, use this tutoring style of teaching to great effect.
However, it is not possible for every child in the world to have one-to-one teaching - unless you employ AI. AI could feasibly deliver an intimate learning experience that is highly effective, once it matures.
OpenAI has already partnered with Khan Academy to produce an AI virtual tutor. This could be the start of something big.

🇨🇳 CHINA RISKS FALLING BEHIND DUE TO REGULATION
Time for the latest AI cold war update folks!
China is at risk of falling behind on AI, due to “heavy-handed” regulation, amongst other things.
Interestingly, one of the factors that affect China’s development of learning models is that there is only a small amount of the internet available in Chinese, giving it a small pool of data to learn from. Meanwhile English is the lingua franca, giving American and British researchers much more data to train AI on.
Other factors include strong regulations which are already hampering the efforts of major Chinese companies. Alibaba has just launched a text-to-image bot, but it’s limited to commercial usage due to fears of strong regulation.
For example, The Chinese state emphasised that products need to be in keeping with "core socialist values". Making big companies fear backlash if their offering was available to the public.
Other factors include Western tech companies like Microsoft moving their AI centres out of China.
